The Voyages of Dr. Doolittle by Hugh Lofting (Grosset & Dunlop, $12.79, sixth-grade level). ISBN: 0448418630.	The Medalist Dr. Doolittle meets his young apprentice then sets off across the ocean to South America where he has a series of adventures. Cute, funny story. Parodies many elements of society, but I don't think many modern readers will get the point. Part of 12-book series.
