The Dark Frigate by Charles Boardman Hawes (Econo-Clad, $15.85, seventh-grade level). ISBN: 0613013263.	The Medalist Exciting story about a young man in 18th Century England who gets involved in a series of pirate adventures. Well told tale, but kids will labor greatly over the extended vocabulary. The narrative, not the historical content, is the jewel here. It doesn't bog down nor dwell as heavily in melodrama as his other, earlier book, The Great Quest.
